LARCHMONT, NY -- A record 425 college sailors from 38 schools racing 45 borrowed boats came together for the 2012 Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta hosted by the Storm Trysail Foundation and the Larchmont Yacht Club. With so many college sailors participating, the event has become the world’s largest college sailing regatta. Schools travelled from Canada, the Midwest, New England and the mid Atlantic states with the University of Wisconsin Madison travelling the farthest. Schools that sent teams are:
Once again there was a contest for the best team's video of the regatta. Teams were provided with digital video cameras and the footage was pooled. The winning team earned a $1500 prize. Bates University won the 2012 video contest with this video:
The Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta is a free event for the student sailors as well as for the boat owners. Many thanks to the help of our sponsors.
